New York Bucket List

Our days in NY are numbered. Not kidding! You see, Bryan was offered a fantastic new job in…drum roll…Salt Lake City, Utah. And we accepted. Aka, come September we’re Utah bound! I repeat: Utah bound!

Bryan will be training in NY for the summer, following which we will return to Utah for who knows how long?! As for me, I have declined my PhD offers and am going to nanny the cutest two-year-old this summer as I can’t really seek out a permanent social work position in NYC if I’m leaving in three months.

FYI: We are as surprised as you, especially as Bryan was not actively seeking employment (one of those meant to be, fall in your lap opportunities)! We are hopefully, also, as excited as you (assuming “you” live in Utah). We confess, we thought we would stay in NY longer… Not to mention we dabbled in living internationally… But as always, The Big Man (meaning God) knows best. Thus: Utah. And hey—I’m not complaining! I love me some Rocky Mountain hiking, camping, and skiing; quick access to Moab, Zion, and Lake Powell; and of course our amazingly wonderful families! We’re elated! Will we miss NY? Absolutely! Do we love NY? Absolutely! But do we also love our Utah? Absolutely. You know, I’m finding more and more that I love everywhere! Really! Thus, moving is always bittersweet. What a fun adventure!

Now. With this fast approaching move, it seems only appropriate that we make a NY bucket list. Ok, this list really isn’t new. It’s actually old. I wrote it when I first moved here. But we are determined to check off as many of the remaining items as we can (with the exception of seasonal events…). Note, an “x” indicates the item has been completed. And red indicates it needs to be done!
